SKYW does not have $1 billion in cash on hand. They have about .583 billion, so I suppose one could round up and get $1 billion, right? $583 million is still a lot of cash on hand, not sure if it matters but SKYW stock has been getting hammered lately. FWIW, Republic has about $400 million in cash.

SkyWest Airlines does not own all their airframes either(not sure if that matters), and ExpressJet owns less than half of their airframes(again I'm not sure if that matters. With respect to the United flying, I think SkyWest/ExpressJet controls a lot of the lease terms, but I don't know about Delta.

However, Republic does own the majority of their E-JET airframes...
