people think about planes...when in fact a majority of the planes are leased at colgan. the parts department is hardly even a parts department. everything has to be ordered or brought in from somehwere else...or my favorite borrowed off of a broke airplane as colgan will say is "more borke than the other one"

it all comes down to a certificate...that is what they want first and foremost

also the codeshare partners in airways, co, and ual. that expands their horizon.

but what the most important thing is with the new certificate...are you ready for this...

will get them around any scope clause with nwa...so if three years down the road they want to bid for flying with lets say delta...they can get around a clause with nwa and put the new flying at colgan...

ie...freedom and shuttle america

shuttle america certificate was bought for i believe a million or less and they flew saabs...

200-300 million is like a a pre-school kid coming to the airport saying his dad owns a 172 and it cost 300 million dollars...

colgan was quick to sell...the got 10mil up front and i believe it was a note for 10mil in a year...and probably some sort of agreement for the time being for the family to keep their job...

the question i have is...will he start another company...that is all the family knows...hell all of them work there
