Unlike the OP, I would rather guys be able to continue to fly with the approved medications, rather than kick them to the curb. Someone being sick is horrible and the added stress of losing their job will only make it that much harder.
I just do not understand the attitude of wanting higher medical standards in order to disqualify competent pilots from their livelihood. Selfish doesn't even begin to describe it...Maybe deplorable?
Higher? We don't enforce the standards we have now. We don't even need higher standards to shove unfit guys out the door. All we have to do is make people prove the boxes they check now. You are either medically fit or you aren't. What part do you not understand?
