Any major's pilot union that would allow an aircraft that size to be scoped into a regional would have to be crazy.

Unfortunately, if a regional got one... they'd be able to find pilots to fly it for cheap. Even with all these regional jets being operated by unionized work groups, the unions don't seem to have the backbone to raise their own wages.
