What a turd, some other guy could have had his slot if he had called just a few days earlier.
Kinda myopic to call him a turd. He could have been waiting to hear about another opportunity. Now there can be 13 in the next class.
If he had skipped just before IOE I would be more inclined to call him a turd.
Even then it still gives someone else an opportunity with the hole he would leave.
But we are all sure we know the answers since we're pilots.
