No one really knows what's going on with hiring right now. I think from a staffing perspective we seem to be OK. I haven't seen 200% up a lot this Summer. I know last Summer it was almost an every day thing.
You're gonna hear rumors both ways, but nobody knows for sure. I think the people who are in the know would be ones who have recently spoke to recruiters or have recently interviewed. I'm interested to hear what those people can tell us.
One interesting thing though is the fact that the company seems to be legitimately concerned about where to get people once attrition and subsequent hiring really starts to pick up (the only reason we hired so much in 2011 is because we were severely short staffed). There was an internal memo sent out stating that the number of applicants who either met or would meet the ATP requirements by Aug 2013 dropped to 0 (that's right - zero) months ago.
Unless the company announces new flying or growth, I'm expecting us to pretty much stay where we're at right now as far as staffing. Maybe some trickle hiring here and there for attrition, but not much. Regardless of what the doom and gloomers think, I'm ok with where Expressjet is right now. Save SkyWest, I don't think there are any other regionals out there that are in a more favorable financial situation.
