We just dont want something thats head and shoulders above the whole industry, look at Comair. This isn't a normal industry with normal treatment of employees, its crap, but if you want something better go to mainline. Otherwise all you do is price your self out of a job. No one wants to stay at a regional their whole life, so dont act like if you dont get a great contract your whole life is ruined, things will get better but not if you the highest priced guy in an outsourced industry.
Oh come now, I was in no way insinuating you have a terrible contract. I was merely exaggerating just like you did. Am I not allowed to? How's that glass house treatin' ya?

It sounds like we both want the same thing... something better than what we have. But, again... where does it end? What if mainline were to suddenly drop their compensation and benefits to a level below ours? Should we willingly do the same? If it gets to the point where I have to give up the benefits that made me desire this job in the first place, I'm gonna find a new career. I enjoy what I do, but not THAT much. We already sacrifice a great deal for this job. How much is enough?

I see where you're coming from here, but we look out for the company insofar as operating efficiently and safely, but that is a responsibility to the passengers first and the company second. We're talking about money here... Savings should come from conscientious operation, not a reduced paycheck. I've just never heard of this sort of compromise in another industry (and please, correct me if I'm wrong). If the company I'm working for wants me to accept less to save them, it's time to bust out the resumes.

Specifically, what do the "ERJ guys" want that is so unreasonable? What is "the moon," as you put it? What, if anything is in your current contract that you'd like to see gone from the new contract?
