You can say "well then the jobs would go back to the majors" but that is just not reality. Just do your time, deliver pizza on the side to make ends meet and quit your *****in. The average commuter pilot has it 100 times better than a commuter pilot did 12-15 years ago. BTW the reality of things is that a Silver pilot will probably find him/herself in the right seat of a major airline jet faster than just about any other commuter except the flow-through commuters.
Give me a break!!! The commuter job still has all the responsibilities and requirements that the 747 International does. We just fly a smaller airplane with fewer people, so we should be paid less I agree, but this whole crap that it's not made for us to be compensated, it's just a steping stone is pure bull. When you start respecting yourself and seeing yourself as a professional, maybe then you will be treated as one. Not all layers seek the best and biggest partnerships, not all doctors want to work at the big hospitals and not all pilots want to be in the big shinny jet (most of us do) because of the QOL and pay... The regionals are not designed to pay my dues, the regionals are being used to outsource and create more 20k dollar jobs at the expense of the 150K dollar jobs!
