All new hires are going through the 6 on/1 off schedule. The 6 days a week isn't nearly as counterproductive as the 8-6 schedule for 6 straight days. By day 6, you are dragging.

Not sure about the medical as I don't have insurance through Silver, but there is very little time off to go anywhere during training. Some guys flew their wife in for a couple of days.
The hotel is paid for the entire time you are in training. It will become your home away from home.
