"How can you expect the public to feel confident of the mission of the TSA if they don't even know if the lights are turned on?"
Newsflash! The light's have been off at the TSA for a decade now - a huge waste of time and money on security theater.
Majed was reportedly unable to determine how the machine came to stop operating...

The TSA said in a statement that a metal detector has malfunctioned, but refused to elaborate.
Malfunctioned: That whole plug inserted in the outlet, ON/OFF switch correctly positioned, green light illuminated/extinguished thing is WAAAAYYYYY too complicated. You can't expect mere humans to be able to keep up with that level of technology. We probably need to add another layer of bureaucracy to prevent things like this in the future. That and further harass flight crews.
Screeners at JFK said today that "
supervisors are not happy," and are "double- and triple-checking" agents in an effort to avoid a repeat of last week's embarrassment.
In other words, the boiling undercurrent of incompetence that defines the TSA spilled out in public view again. In the words of Mel Brooks, "Gentlemen! We have to protect our phoney baloney jobs!"
It would be laughable if these idiots didn't have actual power.
