You print out a pairing before you fly, right? Do they pay you enough for that?
And where the hell do you draw the line between having no heartburn over dutying in and fueling the plane? Sorry, but I have way more pride in what I do than anyone who needs more money to freaking duty in so the company knows you got to the assignment. Makes perfect sense to me. In fact, the ones who are so against it are the sorry sacks that don't have enough pride and personal responsibility to get to work on time.
We should have been getting paid for pre-flight duties all along. Why are you not fighting to get paid for doing those duties? If they want me to check in 1 hour prior or they give me a missed trip then we must be on duty. If I am on duty PAY ME!!!! Is this so difficult for you to understand?
I can't think of many jobs that require you to show up to work and not get paid WHILE YOU ARE WORKING!!! As you're going through your flows and checklist and the ramper is sitting on his fat *** waiting for you he is getting paid. The same applies to the gate agents, wheel chair pushers, janitors food court staff and every other GD person at the airport! Why do you expect to not be paid while you are doing pre-flight duties? Why would you want to check in 1 hour prior yet not get paid until the brake is dropped at go time? What is the matter with you?
