I just don't understand defending this position... It may not be realistic to expect the compensation standard to change any time soon; but to tout it so positively as you is nothing short of perplexing.

Because it's NOT DONE THAT WAY!!! Do you just b!tch on the internet about how bad your job is or have you volunteered for your negotiating committee, sat across the table from management and tried to negotiate that for us - your revolutionary new idea? We'd all appreciate it! Have you even once called your reps and demanded we be paid like this, because you think we should? What did they say? Did they laugh?

It's stupid to debate this. It's not happening. You would see a straight salary long before hourly pay for every duty hour.
