It's stupid to debate this. It's not happening. You would see a straight salary long before hourly pay for every duty hour.
So, your defense is that we shouldn't be upset because it's tradition? Do you realize how poor of an argument that is?
Not b!itcing here, merely joining the discussion in pointing out how silly our compensation is. I'd much rather dedicate time to contacting reps about better overall compensation and better work rules. You seem to be far more worked up about this than I. Again, I'm not sure why you're defending this. My point is: It's a silly way to be paid, and it's not going away any time soon. Why is it such a negative thing to say?
