We asked the Director of Ops about it back in May, what they were planning to do when they couldn't fill spots, like a signing bonus. He seemed flabbergasted that we would even mention a signing bonus. His response was, "Well, right now we're paying for the hotel during training."
Wow.
Pilot shortage (which I think is a crock or not... if some regionals think it's hard now, what will they think when DAL, UAL, AA/US are begin to hire in droves AND all new-hires will need at least 1500 hours.
Recipe for disaster.
