Your preferences sorted remaining trips that did not conflict and those trips were not available to you when PBS got to you because they were previously awarded to a senior bidder. Because they are junior to you! Your contract language just sucks too much that it allows this to happen. The more senior person should get more days off in this scenario or both should be on reserve and the trips dropped in open time for more senior line holders to trade for.
Quit trying to defend your awful PBS. It isn't flying over here...
