I'm not defending PBS. I personally don't care if we have it going forward or not. All I'm saying is that I think it's ridiculous to be upset about what happens to pilots junior to you. With our PBS there are numerous ways to bid. If the way you bid combined with conflicts and the pairings the company builds cannot award you a line then it's pretty simple: you're not getting a line. Every pilot's situation is different and PBS goes one pilot at a time. Putting a junior pilot on reserve instead of awarding a line still will not get you a line. Your schedule was completed before the system moved on. I know misery loves company but quit worrying about everyone else. The argument should be "there are pairings available and I wasn't able to hold them and going forward there should be a way for me to hold a line in this scenario" versus "the guy behind me got a line and I didn't!!!"
A huge problem with PBS at our company so far is that most pilots have only seen the results of it within 5% of their bidding status. You have no idea what it is like in my bidding status. Your posts are nearly as bad as the flight attendants who are all convinced if it doesn't work out your way you didn't bid correctly. I know exactly how to bid in my status.
