True, but there are both buckets and seniority for SC and flying.
If you're in a bucket, be it SC or flying, with a senior pilot you, the junior pilot will get the duty be it the SC or the rotation if the senior pilot didn't go out his way and ask for it.
SC bucket #2 starts once a pilot has started his 3rd SC. Not sure when bucket #3 starts (guessing #6, which would apply once we start doing 7 SCs). Not that it matters much these days...you're pretty much going to get the SC until the scheduler decides they might run the risk of running short of SC pilots at some point. Which doesn't make us that much different from SW reserve pilots when you think about it...you'll hear the counter about SW pay sometimes with, "Well, when they're on reserve they're on SC if they're not flying." That's about how it is here lately....we'll see if it keeps going this way after summer. Part of me suspects they may keep coming with the SCs even when not truly needed. Case in point, at the end of the month in June a lot of pilots were getting SC with 1 day availability if they weren't winchester on SCs already....some even with just 6 hrs of availability.
