So, no. They probably did not need our "permission." More likely it was "our idea." We don't separate our Aeromexico's investment results from our own. We show this as "improved passenger revenue." IMHO, alter ego.My guess is that our strategy is to put the risk of these route expansions off of Delta's balance sheet. AeroMexico likely also has a cost advantage on us.
So what's your point? Are you saying that since "we coordinate schedules..." that Aeromexico management would be doing the right thing for it's customers to force them to fly thru ATL to go to NRT or points beyond? That's ridiculous. They are a sovereign carrier, and if they want to buy 787s.. that's their business. What makes it any of ours would be if DAL wanted to put DAL code on those flights. THEN it is our business... until then.. not so much.
