Correct, The total net job loss is expected to be around 125 to 150 jobs. Guys keep jumping on the 300 to 340 number which is the jobs expected to be lost to the ALV going to 84 and ALV plus 15 for reserves. There were other areas of the contract where we gained back jobs such as vacation and training counting toward a reserve being full. The net loss of jobs is expected to be about 125 to 150. Even that will not happen in one bid overnight. The early retirement program has no effect on any of that regardless. ER's do not offset job loss other then as a short term temporary measure.
What will determine what actually happens is the economy. If it tanks the bids will be ugly. If things start to turn around then it will be much better. To paraphrase, "Its the economy stupid". Winter ticket sales to Europe are already weak so lets hope the summer flying plan for 13 does not take to big a hit. The contract we just signed is nothing but a blip compared to the economy when it comes to future pilot jobs at Delta.
