United to terminate Aer Lingus-operated IAD-Madrid flight Oct. 31
We notified Aer Lingus last week of our intent to exercise our right to terminate the enhanced code share on Aug. 1 for service between IAD and MAD (Madrid, Spain). The termination takes effect 90 days after the notification, so the flights will continue through the end of October. We will maintain our other codeshare flights with Aer Lingus, and we will continue to serve MAD via EWR.

Questions............
1. In the UAL CBA, does UAL management retain the right to re-start the "enhanced code sharing?"
2. How many pilot jobs have been "outsourced" via the "enhanced code sharing?"
3. Does ALPA have any on paper assurances that UAL won't re-start this scheme?
4. How much do the scab pilots at Aer Lingus make? How much money did UAL save with this?
5. By flying large RJ's into CAL hubs, is our scope language being violated?

Observations..........
1. Pilot jobs have been permanently lost as UAL never re-staffed the flight with its own employees. Merely, it is just using flying that we are already doing.
2. Even air tight scope language can be violated. CAL Management has done it numerous times, and they will do it again.
