Attention smartphone users: bookmark Flying Together
If your mobile device can surf the web, you can now access key elements of Flying Together in a mobile-friendly format. As a start, we offer these tools and information:
  • Travel - Create, view and manage your travel plans
  • Employee directory - View co-worker contact information (including email, phone and photo ID).
  • News
  • Jeff’s Journal
  • Performance data
Need access to more? The full Flying Together site is still available by clicking “Full site” at the bottom of any mobile-formatted page. However, the rest of Flying Together is not designed for mobile viewing and may not deliver the best user experience. We’re working on improving that.
We soft launched mobile Flying Together a few weeks ago, and our first users submitted great feedback and suggestions we’ll incorporate during the next release of the site. Many have asked why this isn’t an app. The reason: We wanted to ensure co-workers with any smartphone could access it.
For more information, check out our mobile Flying Together quick reference guide.
If you experience any issues logging in to the mobile site or difficulty making pass travel reservations, please contact the Service Desk at (800) 255-5801.
Contact [email protected] with any additional questions or comments not related to log-in or pass travel.
Reminder: Nominate a co-worker to be part of 787 history
“Calvin works tireless hours to ensure that no detail gets overlooked. He is always safety conscious and helps mentor others so that they adhere to safety standards as well. He is very technical, organized and an all-around good guy to work with. He deserves this opportunity more than anyone.”
This is just one nomination we’ve received as part of the United 787 Delivery Contest. In the contest, you have the opportunity to tell us who should be eligible to win a seat on the delivery flight of one of our first Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
To nominate someone, all you have to do is give us a brief story that describes how a co-worker goes about his or her job with a Working Together spirit that helps make the workday go more smoothly. We will then enter your story into a drawing, and if we randomly select it, the co-worker you nominated will get to participate in the exciting delivery and first flight of one of United's 787s.
Be sure to nominate a co-worker by August 10. To access the entry form and for more information go to the Employee Services tab > Rewards & Recognition > United 787 Delivery Contest.
United to terminate Aer Lingus-operated IAD-Madrid flight Oct. 31
We notified Aer Lingus last week of our intent to exercise our right to terminate the enhanced code share on Aug. 1 for service between IAD and MAD (Madrid, Spain). The termination takes effect 90 days after the notification, so the flights will continue through the end of October. We will maintain our other codeshare flights with Aer Lingus, and we will continue to serve MAD via EWR.
Diversity means working together in Mexico City
Our Diversity Sales team (part of the Specialty Sales organization) recently collaborated with the Latin America Sales Team in Mexico City to host a workshop on serving the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. More than 50 business owners in the hospitality industry learned about United’s various travel programs and best practices for supporting the LGBT marketplace.
Having dedicated resources allows the Specialty Sales organization to focus on key customers in diverse markets. The Diversity Sales team focuses on women, African American, LGBT, religious and other groups. Understanding our customers’ unique needs is important if we are to earn—and keep—their business.
