Hmmm...so he was on short call...and got an 'assignement'? Are there some squirley rules about how long he has to report, and if they need him inside that time, perhaps they are calling it an assignment?

I thought that rule (12 hours?) only applied to long call though, not sure about short call. How long did he have from assingment until sign in? And was it a domestic trip or international?

You can check with the DALPA web board, they have a scheduling forum there, you can give them the exact pairing number, etc. and they can tell you what's up.
