Keep in mind none of these regionals are stand alone airlines even though they have 121 certificates. They are companies that service airlines. So if you don't have the best priced product available the customer (Major Carrier) will just get another company to facilitate them. It may take years for the change to occur. When it does watch out because the bottom falls out pretty hard. That's no place to base a long term carrier.
Good luck to you guys that are getting hammered by this.
Thats why it is best to go to a place that:
1. Can change and adapt to market changes.
and
2. Has a lot of irons in the fire for different code shares. If one contract goes south you at least dont just have to close the doors. Furloughs maybe, but at least you have a chance of keeping your job.
Right now, Republic and Skywest are the only places I'd even consider going to.
