Seriously though, I had a bunch of friends who got hired before I did at various places who are now jumping ship to SkyWest and XJT. So now, after a year at Airline X they move laterally and are 6 mos and 200 numbers under the guy who waited 6 mos to get hired at SkyWest or XJT in the first place. Funny how that works.
I'm in the same boat as groon.... if I could go back and do it all over, I would've been in limbo between AWAC and XJT. Was hired at both, came to AWAC and would do the same thing again. I'm not a fan of IAH/EWR/CLE. Movement here is not as much as other airlines, but we have lost 30 people in 2007 so far. Out of an 820 person pilot group that is 3.65% of our pilots. Most of them senior to me

We are just fat on FO's and CA's as it is. Friends in PHL fly almost every day, in ORF... we don't fly.
Things will pick up, new hire classes confirmed.... we are a little overstaffed right now, but like someone above said... it could all change overnight. Three years ago XJT probably didn't see CAL farming out their flying... AWAC thought it was in a 10+ year deal with United, and I don't think anyone really saw the 146's being parked... Comair was the place to be in terms of $$$ and QOL.... Skywest was a small airline out west that wasn't even really on the map yet.
A lot can happen between now and Jan 1, 2008. IMO, you probably shouldn't criticize why someone chose the place they did. Based on the above description it sounds like Mesa...maybe SkyW......but, I would rather be selling cars than working at Mesa.
