Actually, it's the other way around. Take my numbers - after 20 years in Herks, I have right at 2100 sorties & 5345 hours according to ARMS. .2 * 5345 = 1069 giving me 6414 total with the 1.2 x Mil Flight Time. However, 2100 * .2 is only 420 hours giving me 5765 total - that's a huge difference.

One way adds a specific amount per sortie, the other way adds a percentage to your total hours. The rationale behind .2/.3 per sortie is because the military only logs time from takeoff to landing, where most airlines log time from engine start to shutdown. How much time do you have idling in the chocks or taxiing? The non-mil guys are logging time then...

It's very generous of Atlas to allow a 20% pad of the hours and I don't think anyone else in the industry does it this way...be able to justify what you present as your hours and even if Atlas allows this huge conversion, I wouldn't use it anywhere else.
