Jetblue sponsors a program called Wings for Autism. While the project is worthy Jetblue refuses to provide any insurance for pilots with children who have Autism. Jetblue is more than happy to receive many accolades in its support of this difficult condition yet it provides ZERO support for its employees who's children are suffering.
A pilot I recently spoke with spends upwards of $7000 per month providing care for his child while Jetblue spends countless amounts of dollars in the public eye only.
This is reality at Jetblue.
This is the reality bluedriver and the other ignorant anti-union proponents don't want you to hear about. Bluedriver and the rest are more than happy to keep their collective heads buried in the sand while many of our pilots struggle.
Ask bluedriver how other pilots on disability are doing. Ask him for some of their stories. Ask him how they are being treated.
I know a pilot that left JetBlue for that reason, had a son that was autistic. Wonder if it's the same person. This is the kind of stuff that has to change with health insurance.
