I was lucky enough to do something similar in 1991. Cost then was 650. 0 hours flight time. Did some formation work out to the practice area, gun tracking, then 3 merges, using hi yo-yos to get on the other guy's tail. We also did an overshoot/reversal and some acro between merges.
