Actually, picture this little gem (in my best mad movie director pose):
AMR's LGA goes to UsAir, which is called American Airlines. So no change there per se except Dash 8s in AA paint.
AMR's JFK goes to Delta with a percentage of AMR pilots.
DOT says oh but, yeah, SWA will get a significant number of slots out of LGA... if you want JFK. Unless you want it all to go to B6.
Do we get DCA back from USAir? LaHood says um... no. But do you want JFK and your small presence in LGA or not?
Oh and SWA gets UsAir's old terminal.
