Unfortunately that's not correct. I wish it was. Per the CBA, you are paid a minimum 4.5 per duty day, not per calander day. This is also why a redeye turn pays 5 ish hours instead of 9.
There is a Vegas pairing that goes to msp which pays 9 hours instead of the 6:40 block flown. All the flying takes place on the same day but you report at 23:40 for a 00:25 departure. Same thing.
