I will let the guys who have been here a year or two be the authority on all things Atlas, when I interviewed with Atlas over 13 years ago, we didn't freak out about a tie or conversion numbers.

The background to this issue, which I am suprised that you have not heard of, is that one of the managers was deducting points for guys wearing a tie when the instructions were business casual. The word is that he got slapped down pretty firmly by senior management over this, but the concern of applicants is understandable.
