A trip rig is the ratio of hours paid to a pilot to the hours away from base or domicile. For example, a 1:3.5 trip rig means that for every 3.5 hours away from base, the pilot will be credited with one hour of pay.
Just skimming some of the articles on the main page and it's starting to click. I assume you're paid the better of block time, duty or trip rig?
