When I went through training, I got a rental car on hotwire.com for around $12 a day when I thought I might want one/needed one. When you get there, find someone to split the cost and it is minimal. I would guess that it would be cheaper than driving 2000 miles round trip with the cost of gas. For the most part, however, if you want to conserve funds, there is a bus that will take you to/from the school house. It won't take you to the grocery store though. . .
