Well apparently mainline doesn't own their flying anymore either because the APA fought hard as hell to keep it. AMR was able to get the judge to abrogate their contract and their scope. APA didn't sell it!
And your baseball analogy is flawed. I liken this cheering more to when you watch a football game and someone on you team take a career ending injury. There will be those who share their deepest sympathies and those who cheered for the great "hit".

Dear Eagle, welcome to the regional battle that has ensued for many years. Up until now, you have been relatively immune. But the reality is regional airlines do not own any flying. Mainline partners do. And they bid it out to their contractors
Do I feel for the Eagle employees? Yes. I have been in their shoes. I've been furloughed, recalled, then had my airline disappear. Do I feel ill will for the other pilots that got my flying? No of course not
