A buddy of mine is a senior line pilot/check airman with SKW and was the first to notify me of this, and offered up his apologies. He calls this a canibalistic industry - and he's right.
Agreed! It's sad to see how narrow viewed some pilots are. They are part of the reason this industry is in the crapper. Funny how the mentality changes when the situation isn't in your favor. When GoJets has bid on YOUR flying and is awarded a whole base worth of it, people get all whiny and start snifflin. It's kind of the same thing here. Except that you didn't take a pay cut or except an even more sub-par QOL so the company can do it.
But it was still someone elses job loss so that you can keep yours for another day. "That's just the way the industry works" comes across extremely selfish. Just do your job, do it well and appreciate that you are in a better position than some others. Respect goes a long ways believe it or not. And trust me, what comes around goes around.
Sorry to all of the Eagle guys. I'm NOT happy to do your job. But I have very little say in it.
