I'd suggest that you guys "think about this next time during negotiations" as I'll be nothing but a bad memory by then. Remember when the union did the phone polls, I was one of the guys saying I thought a 30% (immediate, upon signing) raise was a fair. You guys will have to fight the fight from the next contract, forward. Good luck!
