Holy cow.

How many times in one's career do you land after an uneventful transcon and have ground control direct you to a vacant ramp where you stop and are subsequently surrounded by emergency vehicles and ground control doesn't want to give any information?

Wouldn't at least part of any good PIC's brain be saying, "It might be time to bail out of this thing."

And as Denny Crane said, an ultimatum in the form of a deadline until evacuation appeared to be a successful technique in getting [very basic] information that the PIC wanted.

Absolutely unacceptable that it had to come down to that.
