This is the problem. JB is a
step up. It is not the end all, get all. Not really sure what is these days. Maybe a general contractor.
Here are the facts...
Every other major airline, many regional airlines and most fractionals have better health care than JB. Some are much better. Our healthcare "benefits" have been whittled down to basically catastrophic insurance and the pilots have absolutely no say or negotiating power to change it.
While the company has improved the retirement contribution we still lag behind industry average (which is where they said we would be). Remember Rob Maruster's video, "We fixed it!" (5+5+3=18).
Retirement numbers are roughly 110 over the next 10 years. That's less than 5% of the seniority list over 10 years. Compare that with the other extreme of US East where 50% will be gone in 5 years, 85% in 10 years.
Very few captains (of the 1200 or so that was previously quoted) will ever leave here until they are forced to by age or medical condition. Obviously this is my speculation.
If you come here with little or no PIC turbine/jet you may very well be stuck for the rest of your career. Maybe not such a bad thing if this is really where you want to be.
If you do come here, please consider our shortfalls. Inform yourself and please vote for the pilots to have the power to negotiate our compenstation package so that we can make things better for all our pilots.
