As for you.... I think Hawk had an interesting post. Couple that with the fact that there will be another drawdown. Technology will continue to advance. Waivers available now may not be available next year or when you might need one. Pilots are represented in the senior staffs to a far greater degree than Navs. Moving from Nav to Pilot is very, very difficult. Many more apply than make it to the board due to the screening requirements.

My advice FWIW, there is a great difference in the quality of life between the two services. Figure out which life you want. Do not count on moving from Nav to Pilot. Many try and only a handful succeed.

In my case although I was FAR'd at UPT I did find it very difficult. I had been a Nav and am very thankful I did not hit UPT off the street. For me quality of life won out but had I known how difficult it was to move from Nav to Pilot I probably would have taken the Pilot slot and been even more overwhelmed.
