Ticket prices are crazy low and costs are crazy high for fuel, maint, planes, etc. Every airline either barely scrapes by or gets undersold by the next guy to pop up. Unless some of them die off, the industry won't get any better. At some point we decided that having jobs was more important than having good jobs. I'm not going to argue against or for that, but I am going to say at that point we had no leverage against anything, given RLA and how the industry works.
I agree with a lot of what you said except ticket prices being too low. They are the highest they have been in a long time. 500-1000 roundtrips for domestic flights are the most common. For some reason, these airlines still can not make enough money to go around, I just don't get it.
The airline with the lowest fares (Greyhound, .... or Southwest) still manages to fair the best and pays their employees a decent wage. Once again, I just don't get it.
