From an outsider looking in willing to take that chance, I have come to the conclusion that a few things would prevent a furlough. actual LUAL-LCAL guys please correct me if I am wrong.

1) Heavy retirement numbers starting rather soon.
2) New rest rules require increase in staffing.
3) Improvement in work rules with new JCBA would require the LCAL side to increase staffing levels.
4) Results of where furloughed UAL guys fall on the SLI could be a huge factor for who is willing to return and how soon after the list is implemented.

So those are the main issues I have heard about from insiders that could prevent a furlough of street hires. But then again, the math that has floated around about LUAL 757s parking could result in a net loss of airplanes? I am a bit unsure on those numbers.

So these factors make me personally feel that it would be worth the risk to go over there. I also am fully aware that even if I did not get laid off, I realistically would be stalled out over at the bottom for a good few years. But as alot of you guys out there will say... that is a better place to be then where I am now.
