From an outsider looking in willing to take that chance, I have come to the conclusion that a few things would prevent a furlough. actual LUAL-LCAL guys please correct me if I am wrong.
1) Heavy retirement numbers starting rather soon.
2) New rest rules require increase in staffing.
3) Improvement in work rules with new JCBA would require the LCAL side to increase staffing levels.
4) Results of where furloughed UAL guys fall on the SLI could be a huge factor for who is willing to return and how soon after the list is implemented.
IMHO, those are all reasonable assumptions
IF (big IF) UCH does not experience any reduction in size due to increased express/codeshare/joint venture flying with the JCBA or by factors out the the control of anybody (financial meltdown, terrorist attack, ect.)
