That sounds about right. What we all need to realize is that every merger represents a separate, unique, standalone set of circumstances. An SLI method that might make good sense for one merger/buyout might make zero sense for the next.
That is why I think what we did with the DAL/NWA SLI was the best--or least bad--approach: try to negotiate an SLI (which we know will never happen) and then go to arbitration,
select a 3-person panel so as to avoid any one individual's possible quirks, and have a well-prepared merger committee make their best possible presentations.
