Captain Jeff Clay of Comair 5191 was trained at Delta's very own Comair Aviation Academy.
I flew with him and I always got the impression that safety was his highest priority. He ran a professional and company-standard flight deck, and looked forward to going home to his wife and young daughters after each trip.
Was Clay fatigued? Perhaps. Distracted? Probably. Sloppy? No. Careless? On that day, when it mattered most, yes... for about two minutes... and people died.
Sorry I am wrong - the fo and not the captain was from gulfstream. The point that I was trying to make was that the last 3 accidents involving fatalites in the regional industry all had pilots from gulfstream. This was not a knock on the captain of the comair flight.
