Although I did not get my job as a direct result of the job fair, I did get valuable face time with the recruiter from Crew for the job in Japan. I believe that if I hadn't met him at the fair, I wouldn't have been called as quickly as I was.

So sometimes it does help. It really depends on which airline you want to go to and if they will be there. So you can't say they are a total waste of time.
