Life Insurance has been a big discussions in my office recently (if you saw my work peers you'd understand why

); so I thought I would share a recent reality check from a work peer.
This person is a recent retiree from the USAF.
One month ago, USAA would have given him a premium of $200+/month as a USAF Flight Check pilot. This month (with no increase in age mind you), the same policy will cost him $500+/month because he now does the same job with the FAA.
I'll contrast this with my own life insurance with Liberty Mutual who did not increase the premium at all as long as my flying was all professional (work related). Now recreational GA flying would have additional premiums - but I don't think that is uncommon.
In both cases - USAA lost more business.
