Hello all
I was looking at recruitment websites of some airlines based in the Middle East and have some questions regarding the weight of the aircraft as they have not specified.
1. Fly Dubai
First Officers
At least 2,500 hours total flying time.
At least 1,000 hours on modern (EFIS), multi-crew, multi-engine aircraft over 10 tonnes operating weight (preference will be given to those with PIC time).
Does Fly Dubai mean MTOW (Maximum Take Off Weight), ZFW (Maximum Zero Fuel Weight) or MEW (Manufacturer's Empty Weight) ?
For people flying larger RJ may not matter, but it is a game changer for people flying aircrafts like EMB 120 since MEW is 7 Tons and MTOW is 11.5 Tons
2. Emirates
When determining the 30 Ton rule, does Emirates look at MTOW, ZFE or MEW? I have read about RJ drivers being hired at EK, so the 30 Ton rule is based on EK's discretion?
3. Qatar
First Officers
Minimum of 1,000 hours in one of the following categories:
- Multi Crew, Multi Engine Jet Aircraft
- Command Turbo-Prop above 20,000kg MTOW
- High Performance Military Jets
Folks who have been at Qatar or are working there, what does QR mean by "Multi Crew, Multi Engine Jet Aircraft"? Will CRJ 200 qualify since it is multi crew, engine jet aircraft?
I have asked a few questions and I hope that seasoned expats will contribute as always. I am trying to understand so that when the time comes, I can make a clear concise choice based on your helpful suggestions. I know things will change over time but planning ahead is a head start in the direction.
Thank you
