I agree that AA travel benefits are a bit more pricier (if your are less than 5 years on company) than others, but in general I think they are some of the best for regional carriers. The main thing is that there is no differentiation between eagle and AA. That is, if you list yourself for a flight and checkin right at the 24 hour period (when checkin opens), you get a seat before anyone who checks in after you, AA or Eagle. You don't have to worry about getting bumped at the last minute by someone super senior or on AA side. This makes non-rev traveling a lot easier and predictable. We do get a few higher level priority non-rev passes that put you above others, but everyone gets them too (unlike the "vacation passes").

But yes, most people who commute with less than 5 years on company try to commute on other carriers so it's free or pony up the 11 bucks for a ride. That would add up quickly I'd imagine.
