I've thought about heading down to Jack Brown's Seaplane Base to get my float rating, figure it'd be pretty easy as they use J3s. That's pretty close to your neck of the woods, isn't it?
Jack Brown's is about 45 min. north west of me, the one on floats I used to fly was from there originally, my bud bought it from them. He would land on my lake, pull up to my dock to pick me up and we'd go do some splash'n go's. Then when we were done, we'd tie his up and drive out to KSEF, to fly mine, so he could get some wheel landings.

Mine was inside a big steel hanger, it survived the first two hurricanes that came through Sebring in 2004, Charlie and Francis, but when Jean came through it blew in all the hanger doors facing north, wiped out all 8 airplanes in my row, when the big, heavy metal doors blew in on top of the airplanes. It was a mess.

Here's a track of all 3, give it a minute to draw the lines, but I live just about where the 3 lines cross! http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/...1896.htmlstory

I won't be going to the Airline Regatta, but I will be racing on Lake Eustis, just north of MCO, tomorrow and Sunday. Looks like very light air though, so we will probably be doing more drinking than racing!
