Choose whichever you feel most knowledgeable and comfortable with. I took my MEI as my initial, then CFII; consequently I found my CFII easier than the prior probably b/c it was an add-on to the initial. Also keep in mind that if you choose to use newer equipment, you will be asked to show proficiency using it, you don't want to make anything more complicated than it needs be. Just my opinion though.
