Yikes. We had a nearby airport take a direct hit from a tornado a few years back, totaled 15-20 airplanes, but that was pretty much a freak occurrence. I think being an airplane owner in Fla would make me very nervous in hurricane season! Although I guess that's what insurance is for. Did you get another plane after that?
It had been over 40 years since a hurricane had come through central Florida...then 3 in 6 weeks! There was nowhere to keep another plane, it took SEF about 2 years to build new hangers, and by then we had taken a 42% pay cut, so no new toys for a few years. I finally bought the little 16' cat in my avatar, used of course, just so I could get out of the house with an excuse; "I'm going Racing" (but really... to drink beer with the boys.
